Virtual Town Hall: COVID-19 School Planning Task Force Updates and Information

Mohawk Trail/Hawlemont Regional School District is hosting a virtual town hall Facebook live event on the district's Facebook page on Tuesday, September 29 at 6:00 p.m. 

Superintendent Sheryl Stanton will share updates from the task force including the metrics and data the district is using to move between the educational learning models (remote/hybrid/in-person) as well as answer questions from our community. Be sure to check your emails for updates from Superintendent Stanton. She recently shared event details and a link to submit questions in advance. For those who cannot participate online, a call-in option will also be available.

Elementary Sample Schedule During the Remote Model

Attention, elementary parents! Here is a handy at-a-glance schedule for you to use during remote learning. Feel free to print and hang on your fridge for easy reference! As a reminder, your school will have more specific details regarding their school day, so be sure to stay tuned to your email and Google Classrooms for all the information you need.

  • 8:30 a.m. to noon - Morning meeting, English language arts, social studies, and social-emotional learning lessons - mixture of whole group, small group, and independent work (synchronous). There will be scheduled breaks for students throughout this time.
  • Noon to 1:00 p.m. - Lunch and recess
  • 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. - Independent work (asynchronous) for:
    • English Language Arts: Lexia or other teacher assignments
    • Math: Dreambox or other teacher assignments. Also, some some group work and electives

Teachers will have small group instruction/office hours to talk with parents, lead small groups, student support, etc.

Food Services Update

Welcome to the new school year! In order to adequately prepare for our school lunch program, families will need to sign-up their child(ren) each week for school lunches. Curbside pick up will be available at all district schools between noon and 1:00 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. 

Please complete the form below to indicate your school lunch needs and pick-up location. Important: Registration is due each Friday for the following week. You must complete one form for each child. You can fill out for all weeks now or fill out each week as needed. If you register for meals every day on Mondays you will receive two meals (food for Monday and Tuesday), on Wednesdays you will receive two meals (food for Wednesday and Thursday), and on Friday you will receive one meal. 

**As a reminder, all school lunches are free to all children ages 18 years old and younger through December 31, 2020.**

Draft - Return to Learn Fall Reopening Plan

The MTRSD/HRSD submitted the initial draft of the MTRSD Return to Learn fall reopening plans to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) on July 31. The district leadership team created this draft of the three required models with insight and feedback from our reopening workgroups. A tremendous thank you to our dedicated workgroup participants for their time and participation in helping to create these plans. Please keep in mind, we still consider these drafts "living documents," meaning as we continue to obtain more guidance from DESE (which has been ongoing), we will continue to update/modify these documents.

    MTRSD Food Distribution

    Thank you to our incredible food service staff and volunteers who helped make this Grab-n-Go program during the school building closures possible. If your family experiences any hardships over the summer, there are many wonderful local organizations who can help! Visit the Mary Lyon Foundation to learn more about their food voucher program; touch base with your local food pantries; stay tuned to the Mass.gov COVID-19 update page or visit the Mass. gov COVID-19 food assistance page. Additionally, we will send applications for free and reduced meals to families in July.

      Meal distribution in the Hawlemont School District is listed below.

      We will distribute meals on the following days:

      • Tuesday and Friday

      Locations:

      • Hawlemont Regional School - 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
      • 300 Zoar Road - 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
      • Heath Post Office Parking lot - 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
      • Crab Apple Parking lot - 12:30 to 1:00 p.m.
